I know the common wisdom here is that the slave will leak fluid if it's bad/failing. But some recent adventures in installing an entirely new clutch system on my 92 900S taught me something interesting.
All new parts from eEuro. The job seemed to conclude without a hitch but within a week I was suffering a soft clutch pedal. I replaced the new master with another new master and the problem seemed (mostly) gone (I was starting to second guess my bleeding method), only to clearly reappear within another couple of days. The slave cylinder wasn't leaking. What else could it be? I installed the spring bellows and that seemed to solve the problem. For about three days.
I finally said hell with it, replaced the new slave with the old slave (and skipped the spring bellows), and everything has been clear ever since. The new slave from eEuro (Saab brand) failed somewhere before/during the install. They credited my account.
Now I no longer abide by the philosophy that if it's not leaking, it's not bad.
Your slave could be bad.
