My original keys were not steel I am pretty sure as they would not have bent so easily, but as I mentioned in reply to Roger, I have found locksmith who can cut to key codes and is willing to purchase a keying kit ( what I assume is the "tumbler" Roger refers to) so as to re-key the new cylinder to work with original key code and same key as doors, trunk and glove box. All I have to do is get to him the new and old cylinders,hence my other post about replacing the cylinder
