you should bed in NEW pads, not look 1,000's of miles later. :)

The procedure is: as soon as you drop your car off the jack, go for a drive get up to about 45 or 50 MPH and then using moderate to heavy pedal slow quickly to about 25, then repeat this 4-6 times. DO NOT come to a stop and keep the brakes on, when you stop use the emergency brake to keep still, releasing the foot brake. You want the brakes to cool before having them engaged at a stop. this takes the surface off both the pads and the rotors. If you don't do this you can get build up on the rotor (that can increase over time) and the pads will skip over those deposits, feeling like warped rotors.
