Is a Bosch Alternator From A Mercedes 420 OK? Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Tue, 15 Apr 2014 19:19:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
New to me 91T auto. Pretty nice shape with 175K. When I bought it the good was a recent Bosch rebuilt starter and alternator. Got it home and noticed some alternator shake. No problem-new bushings in the drawer. Took it off and noticed the feed cable to the starter wasn't a comfortable fit. Tried another cable and it didn't want to line up very well. Then I noticed the VR was in the wrong place ! It was 180 degrees off. Looked up the Bosch part number and found that it isn't for Saab, it's for a 86-91 Mercedes 420. Part number AL69X. I reclocked the shell 180 degres and it looks identical to the correct Saab alternator except the VR ends in---- 023. I thought the Saab VR ends in 022. Any reason why it would be a problem on a Saab?
