Followed the directions, but couldn't get the included hose fitting on to the low side fitting on the bottom of the compressor body due to a heater hose about and inch and a half from the fitting. "Luckily" I did have another hose used during a different 134a conversion that had a straight, not "L", configuration on the fitting. Managed to get that on the compressor fitting.
Started the car, turned on the air, and pierced the top of the ES can with the fitting in place. It started taking refrigerant immediately, but a significant amount of vapor and liquid was leaking out at the fitting. This concerned me due to the warnings about the flammability of the refrigerant gas. I put a towel under the fitting and crossed my fingers (fire extinguisher at hand). The compressor clutch kicked in after about a 1/4 of the can was emptied. Finally the can emptied and I used a channel lock to get the frosted fitting off the compressor. Turned off the car to let the leaked gases/liquid dissipate. Later, started the car again and turned on the air. It is blowing some cold, but not much. So I think I need another can to top it off. However, the leaking fitting has made me paranoid and I have the "it's good enough" feeling even though it isn't.
Question to you guys...should I go on with the leaking fitting or get a different hose/fitting before I do another can? In other words, is this truly dangerous with the leaking fitting?
