Low pressure side A/C port and proper charged pressure

Howdy all. I had good luck using Enviro-safe to recharge my previous c900. I have the stuff, and want to use it on my current '87 Turvo vert.
After looking all over this forum and other places on the net, I'm still not 100 percent clear on which port that comes off of the compressor is the low pressure side. It seems to be the one that is physically lower (according to my understanding and what others here have said), and yet on thesaabsite they specifically say the low pressure port would be the one that is connected with the larger metal pipe, which in my case is the one that is physically higher and in other ways does not seem like the right one.
Can anybody tell me FOR SURE if the low pressure port is the bottom or the top port? I'm super freaked to have a potential enviro-safe can bomb on my hands if I get it wrong.
Also, what is the proper PSI reading off of the low pressure port for a fully charged system?
