As others said, the hard part for those in the USA is to find them. They are fairly available in Canada - I got a mint set for $30 about 4-5 years ago! I think the going rate at junkyards here is around $100/pr, maybe $100 each nowadays... not sure. I wish I had pulled a set of square nose ones I saw - not because I have one of those cars (mine are newer) but because folks here could probably use them - they are more rare. Probably ended up crushed. Anyway, ecodes were standard in Canada until about 1990/1991.
Installation is just a couple screws + you have to splice in the wiring connector (readily available). When you source ecodes, look also for the plastic caps for the back and the rubber grommets for the wiring. Often the lights don't come with those, and then you have a couple gaping holes in the back of the assy.
