Our A10 Warthog fuel tanks were self sealing from anti aircraft fire, so the pilot did nothing except hang on, keep killing tanks and stay out of the line of fire. Ground crews would continue field repairs as necessary and then when it was BER ( Beyond Economic Repair ) the tanks would be scuttled and replaced, or more likely just the bladders.
Having said that, the civilian repair kits for the experimental aircraft from Wicks or Aircraft Spruce are what works about the same as what we would do on the motorcar. I wouldn't be trying that on a King or Queenair if you know what I mean.......
