Well here's an updte. I installed a new Whaler82 thermostat and and thermoswitch and bled the system. Now I'm getting good flow to the radiator and both upper and lower hoses get warm so I believe the cooling function is working. Temp gauge reads just under half. The odd thing is that the Pass fan does not come on...I've had this problem for so long that I wired the AC fan to a toggle switch that I flip on when needed but sometimes I forget and I dont want to do another head gasket replacement from overheating. The fuse is good for the Pass fan and the fan does work when I do the screwdriver bypass test on the thermo switch???? There is that troublesome relay on the drivers side fender well and there is a Faq on Townsend about bypassing it, which I did try, (but I think that Faq was for 89 models and Up???) I'd sure like to get that fan to come on automatically. Your right about the temperature here which is well below zero'like -17Celcius....... but you would think that the heat generated by a long drive at high speed would get the thermo switch to turn the Pass fan on? What am I missing here?
