Primary drive swap in 900 EMS 4 speed Posted by JohnT [Email] (#1654) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JohnT) on Sun, 7 Dec 2014 10:21:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all, I'm cross posting this from the 99 BB because it's concerning an engine and trans from C900's that I've put in my '80 99 GLi and, well the 99 BB just doesn't get much traffic these days...
I'm finally getting back to my 99 project after a long hiatus. I want to change the gear ratio in the transmission to be more suitable for the turbo engine. The trans is a 4 speed from a '79 900 EMS, #634402. Under that number is another number: 41109. The engine is a B turbo from a 1980 900 and the car is a '80 99GLi. The primary gear ratio is .97. Engine output sprocket has 31 teeth and trans input sprocket has 30 teeth.
So can someone give me some advice about what primary sprockets and chains I can use to give the trans a taller gear? Would those from any 5-spd turbo work? I can't find much data for these primary gear ratios. Any help would be very much appreciated!
