Adjusting Auto Throttle Kick Down Cable in situ Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Mon, 8 Dec 2014 14:24:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A tale of two autos. 91T and a 92na with possibly an 80's turbo auto trans swap. The 91T makes the 2-3 upshift at 31-34mph with light throttle on flat ground. It shifts briskly. That is it has snappy noticeable shifts. The 92na does the 2-3 upshift just over 20mph. It shift so smoothly (like the wife's Buick) that it's hard to tell when it shifts. Looking at the throttle/kick down cable adjustment I noticed the 91T is a lot tighter than the 92na. The 91T adjustment ferrule it right in the middle of the bracket with half the threads in front and half in back. The 92na cable is looser with all it's threads forward. The Saab auto manual says to adjust you need to drop the pans and eyeball the cam etc. Is there a way to get a reasonable adjustment on the road in the meantime? Like my old 60's Torqueflite you just adjusted it on the road so the upshift point was @ xx mph.
