I had a similar situation with my '93 CE.
Thinking the problem might be wear in the pedal, I pulled the pedal, drilled and rebushed the hole for the MC yoke, and put new bushings where the pedal rotates on the assembly. This removed play in the pedal, but failed to firm up the pedal itself.
A short time later the clutch slave failed catastrophically, resulting in a new OEM slave cylinder and a 9000T clutch replacement. This too failed to improve pedal height.
A few months later, I started to have clutch issues again. The problem appeared when I held down the clutch for longer than a moment, such as waiting to make a left turn. As I was waiting with the clutch depressed the car would start to engage.
Checking the usual spots revealed no visible signs of leakage and there was no loss of fluid from the reservoir. Frustrated, I had my mechanic pull the master cylinder, which upon examination was found to be leaking internally.
After replacing the master, as well as the clutch hydraulic line, the pedal is now at the proper height and the clutch as a whole feels right for the first time since I bought the car 5 years ago.
So perhaps. if you haven't done any clutch work and are uncertain as to the age of the given components, maybe now is the time.
I hope this was helpful. Please let us know how things work out.
