The deep bucket seats on the 88 feel great, they say "this is a driver's car", the older car is a little noisier in a variety of ways so you are more aware of it as a machine. The design is a little funkier in its details than later models giving more of the feeling of the pride and pleasure of its original creators. Plus the tooling was fresher so the edges and creases in the body are crisper and the panels fit together more precisely so the body reads more like the whole than the sum of its parts.
I have an 1988 TC (surprise) and just picked up some decent spg side body moldings but the Svensk installation guide I counted on being there for me when the day came does not seem to be available for download any more - does anybody have a .pdf of it or any other installation instructions? Thanks!
