Getting fed up with front calipers

OK, so in the last 4 years my 85 (front p-brake style) has been down for almost a year for my hi-perf engine rebuild, so lets say 3 years total driving and has done lets say 25-30000km total and has gone through TWO sets of front calipers!
Now im not too picky about many things BUT I ABSOLUTELY MUST have confidence in my cars brakes!
Replaced the original calipers when I purchased the car (torn rubbers)
second pair lasted around two months: one had the parking brake lever jam badly, second pissed fluid
I am now on my third pair and now after 2 years the passenger caliper is dragging very hard. I have taken it apart, turned the piston in with my home made tool and readjusted by pumping the brake with the parking brake engaged. As soon as the brakes are applied with the parking brake off, the piston seizes and drags
obviously the pads and rotors (which are almost new) are completely ruined to death and will now have to be replaced...yay another waste of money :/
Am I doing something wrong? Is this normal? I mean these are brakes - THE single most important part, and these rebuilt calipers are dangerous JUNK!
...now many people are going to say: upgrade to the newer 900 brakes, but at this point I have invested in nice wheels and I am not fond of trying to find 4x108 wheels to my liking
Question: Does anyone know of ANY OTHER swap that I can easily try before calling the folks at Wilwood? Toyota, Honda, GMC...dont care where its from...of course I will need to work out provisons for a parking brake (and Wilwood has a perfect kit for this anyways)
any advice on the subject is welcome, as I am very frustrated with this, especially since im now putting 600km a week in this car, and the brakes just need to work
