Lost pintel caps in the intake manifold Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Fri, 28 Oct 2016 14:09:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1991T auto is running rich. 180K. Very little maintenance in the last 15 years. History unknown before that. Ran very well when I got it 3 years ago. I've only driven it a few hundred miles in those 3 years. Got 27mpg on the highway when I intially drove it. Starts, runs, drives but gas mileage has dropped from good to about 13mpg. CEL on and off recently. Have a set of 30K injectors sitting right in front of me so I thought I'd try them. Pulled the fuel rail and 3 pintel caps decided they wanted to stay inside the intake manifold. I can see them hiding behind an intake valve. The engine is due to be pulled for a fresh trans and a HG but I'd like to get it running normally before I pull the head. Any one ever lose pintel caps and just drive away? Or have a suggested tool for getting them out?
