A/C compressor problem... Posted by kenS [Email] (#606) [Profile/Gallery] (more from kenS) on Mon, 7 Nov 2016 17:00:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Anybody out there have any experience or advice about replacing bearings in the A/C compressor? My (Seiko) A/C compressor is making a bearing/ belt squeal. It's not due to belt tension or a noisy idler pulley (I checked those), rather it is coming from the area of the AC compressor pulley. The squeal is slightly less when the AC clutch is engaged, but louder when the AC is turned off (clutch disengaged). Is this likely from the AC clutch bearing ($50 part)? And can this be serviced at any auto A/C shop (looks like you need a special tool to remove the pulley)? The A/C still works (blows cold), it just an annoying extra noise, but I'm assuming it is going to get worse (I've removed the belt as a temporary measure for now). Any advice appreciated, car is a '87 900T...
