Well I guess I screwed up big time. Can't say I wasn't warned. I bought a $40 additive that was supposed to fill minor leaks at the cyl head. It did stop the visible coolant on the outside of the block but I was driving along about a week later and I noticed that I was getting zero heat in the car and normally I could make the interior as hot as I wanted. I'm not sure if the heater core got plugged? I checked the oil and it appeared to have the orange color of the coolant with what looked like flecks of the additive suspended in the emulsion. Head gasket must have blown for sure. Maybe that additive was the straw that broke the camels back? The car runs fine otherwise but I'm not going to run it again until I either change the head gasket or part it out in the Spring. Too bad as it was the ideal winter car. Not sure if its worth the hassle to do the repair on a vehicle this old seeing as how the body and frame are starting to have rust issues after being thru so many winters. However I might bite the bullet and change the gasket if I can find the time but maybe I have a warped cyl head ???
