I'm kind of answering my own question here, but it may help someone.
I went with the figure in Bentley as my guide, so I'm going on faith that the thermo-time switch on my '88 8v is located at the end of the engine, at the bottom of the thermostat housing. This would be the correct location for '86-'88 model years.
The fifth injector was working (!), yet I observed the following:
-when energized, the sensor goes past 140 Ohms to infinity.
-I'm only getting 9V source voltage, not 12.
A look at the wiring diagram shows incoming voltage from the starter motor. There may be a voltage drop issue there.
Two final thoughts, for now:
-it was 45 degrees out when I tested this system. I'll re-test when it's colder.
- Yesterday a drove for an hour, then parked for two. I then had extended crank time in order to get it to restart. It was 40 degrees.
The car runs great other than this problem.
Thoughts?
