Like many (at least from what I've read), the adjusters on the headlights of my 89 900S are failing. Simply epoxy repairs are not working, as the plastic is just too brittle. Aside from an expensive metal replacement from the UK, I haven't had any luck finding replacement parts. I need everything: the black cups that mount to the lamp unit, the white inserts for those cups, and both of the threaded parts that link the plastic housing to the lamp via the adjusters.
It seems like these could be relatively easily produced by 3D printing, but I don't have access to such a thing. Has anyone found a good source for these parts?
Failing that, what alternatives have been tried? I like the idea of converting to the earlier flat front style with metal headlight buckets, but the cost of parts seems prohibitive, if they can be found at all. I'm also intrigued by the idea of rigging up a dual 5 3/4" round setup a la early 99, probably using parts made to fit an 80s BMW (E28 or E30 should work). Anyone ever tried to create such an abomination?
