updating head unit, missing a wire on the deck harness! Posted by Saabu [Email] (#1133) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabu) on Sun, 27 Oct 2019 17:44:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Nothing goes smoothly...
updating from Kenwood KDC-452U CD player/bluetooth/Pandora/Sirius.
this deck's harness had a blue wire dedicated to Antenna control which i had connected to the solid green antenna signal wire of the Saab.
i have a Bazooka powered sub who's harness was simple - 2 RCA connections to the SW ports, a power wire that i had spliced in a Y with the red power wire of the harness to the Red power wire of the Saab, and a blue/white wire that i had connected to the blue/white (antenna control) wire of the deck. Everything was hunky dory.
My car rides very stiff and i am tired of the CD player skipping, etc plus the deck was suddenly turning on and off so i thought now's a good time to do a swap.
So the new Kenwood BMM-BT325U harness has no dedicated Blue wire for antenna. instead the diagram indicates the Blue/white wire is dual function , both Ant control and Power amp control.
" To the power control terminal when using the optional power amplifier or to the antenna control terminal in the vehicle."
So here's where i'm at:
1.. Sub works but no antenna activation on any source setting when:
blue/white sub connected to blue/white of deck. ps Radio does work fine at least on one station!
2. Antenna always up except for Standby mode, and NO sub operation when:
blue/white deck wire to green car antenna
power wire - no change between either of these arrangements.
obviously i have to do some more splicing in order to get the deck to fire the antenna AND the sub, but its not jumping out at me as to how this should be done....
Thanks in advance,
Wayne in Calgary
