Just bought a cordless sawzall for this purpose.
What you'll find is that the easy way is to cut off way more than you need.
If you cut carefully, you can avoid most of the thick, structural steel, and just cut sheet metal.
Then when you start working on your car, cut away only what's damaged and rusty.
If it works out that you need to take apart a seam, do that, but often it's just
the lip, front lower corner, or so forth.
Then make a 'patch' section out of the donor, cutting it back slowly and carefully
until it fits right. Then have at it with the welder.
I would seam the inner fender, since it's not very visible, and pretty easily
accessible.
Not a trivial job, by any means.
