The 953 pump is what is called out for the 1982 either turbo or NA. The 984 pump is the 1981 turbo, the Saab 99, and the front pump for the 930 Porsche turbo.
What is interesting is the spec for the 953 pump used on NA models flows 175 liters per minute, the 984 shows it flows 165 liters per minute. I think the flow rate is governed by the connections to the pump --the 953 pump must have a better or more open connector transition than the 984. Holes in the banjo bigger, etc.
The pressures are the same for the 953 and 984.
So, you did good to find a 984 for a reasonable price as it is a decent match to the fuel distributor.
I'd steer clear of the 909 pump. If you find another 984 to store for spares, submerse it in a solution that would preserve it, like maybe seafoam or a lucas injection product.
