there is no gasket there, it's just a flat surface bolted to the mating surface of the turbo, it just drops off. Any chance that a previous mechanic put some sort of hi-temp sealant or gasket on that surface? The elbow is a very solid piece of iron, I don't think you could damage it by hitting it really hard with a large dead blow hammer. If you can get it free, it is definitely easier to unscrew the O2 sensor on the bench with a big wrench than trying to do it in place. You have already done the trickiest part, which is unbolting it without breaking any studs.
