I used ACKits.com in Scottsdale, AZ (tel (602) 233-0090). They issued me a PO/RMA#, and had me ship the compressor via UPS (about $20) to a repair shop in Sparks, NV where the work was done. They replaced all of the internal seals, and put on a new/rebuilt clutch, pulley & main bearing. I assume it was bench-tested, as it worked fine when I pumped it down & filled it. I think the whole job cost around $200? Your other option is to buy a rebuilt unit, they do come up every now and then from auto-AC specialists like 4Seasons etc. Sandon units are more available, but you really have to make sure they will come with the correct mounting points for your bracket, or the pulley will not line up properly.
