Thank, Jimmy and Paul, for the useful suggestions. I'm out of town right now, but will look into the diagnostic tests you suggested. I'm *really* hoping it's not the cylinders; sounds like a complex and expensive fix.
I agree that it seems that the engine is being starved of fuel or air. I already ordered a replacement fuel filter, which I will switch out when I get home. My research indicates that the OG900 has it located in the rear passenger's side wheel well, but I hope you're right, Paul, that it's actually under the hood. If that doesn't work, I'll test the fuel pressure and hope the pump has started to go. Maybe I'm too optimistic and need to jump right to the cylinders, but I'm trying work up from the less expensive solutions.
