Following what has been told :
1)Open sunroof fully.
2) Remove screws on leading edge.
3) Close till about 1" open.
4) From outside lift front edge and pull forward till roof panel comes out.
5) Close till about 1/4 " from stops.
6) Remove two 10mm nuts each side front, remove two guide arms taking care to not loose any pieces. Manual sunroof has latch mechanism that must be disconnected - if your roof was working perfectly mark everything as best you can to get it back in the same place- I use masking tape and pencil marks. Electric sunroof disconnect cable arms.
7) Look back inside roof within easy reach will be two more 10mm each side, loosen them with a box end wrench till the guide arms will slide out and disengage the track.
8) lift front of panel and slide forward gently and maneuver to disengage the rear guides.
9) It can be recovered by any skilled upholstery shop or by the careful amateur. Evidently the plastic strip that hooks over the edge at the front is a Saab detail, but I have just wrapped the fabric over the front and used ss flat washers under the screws to reinstall. Try to get the foam backed fabric with the thinnest foam, best is 1/16 inch but very hard to find, 1/8 works OK, and thicker works but gives sliding resistance and picks up dirt from the cavity when the roof is opened.
Cost is modest if you remove and reinstall. I have done several by removing headliner shell and roof panel and delivering to upholsterer. Cost has been $135 including materials. If you do the headliner at the same time take care and don't cut out the opening until you verify how much you need to wrap up over the edge of the opening. I use a heavy duty double stick tape on the top side around the opening so I can trim and wrap as I work my way around the opening, then final trim and install edge trim.

Reinstallation is reverse, take care when sliding roof panel back in that two fingers at back go under the springs. You can scratch up the roof if you are careless. I use an old coat hanger and rags to clean the cavity as best I can before reinstalling.
I readjust fit of guide arms by putting roof in closed position, adjusting for a little side to side play, tightening, testing, readjust. etc till it works well with minimum play. Remember to tighten everything and remove tools before putting roof panel back. You can use the car with the inner sunroof out if you block the roof panel in place and stabilize with duct tape.
Good Luck. Bob
