I'm looking for an old 900 to replace my 91 900 that was in a minor accident and is now in the hands of my brother - so i've been looking for 16 valve 3 doors... But then I got to thinking, hey there's a lot of 85 and 86 8-valves for sale and all of them pretty cheap too - and even better, some of them aren't even all the rusted :) so after all that rambling, my question is this: how slow are these things and how reliable are they? after the 2.1 liter in the 91, will an 8-valve non-turbo seem rediculously slow? also, does the lack of power in the 8-valve have a positive effect on the longevity of the transmission? is one or the other more reliable? i drove the 91 10k miles this summer cross country w/ no problems and i want another car to do this in - am i being unrealistic to think an 85 or 86 8-valve would do this?
sorry for the long post...
thanks!
