Can any of you mathematicians tell me how to calculate correct MPG. I'm assuming that the odometer is set to show mileage for the stock 195/60's, and I'm running 205's.
When I bought my 87 900T, MPG was only 19. After doing an ignition tune-up, fixed some vacuum leaks, replaced leaking injector & cleaned throttle body & aic, I'm up to 24 MPG. Still low I guess, even for auto tranny.
Still need to fix another vaccuum leak (crankcase vent hose too short & pulling nipple from seat),replace fuel filter, check timing, & replace alternator bushings & dragging front wheel bearings....all of which, collectively, should further improve MPG.
The original California ownwer had what seems to be every available option installed on this car ( wrap-around bumpers, skirts & side panels, hidden fog lamps, rear spoiler & louvers, alloys, nice "throaty" exhaust system). I've been told that it's not an SPG, since it's red w/gray trim (87 SPG's were only Edwardian Gray) and I'm not sure yet if any tweaks were done under the hood.
Anyway, considering that it IS stock under the hood, what kind of MPG should I be getting from this car with a strong 87K motor w/ AT, & what adjustments should I consider in calculating MPG running the 205's?
BTW, I've been able to fix all that I have attempted on this car so far with minimal cost, due largely to your posts & responses to my questions, and I really appreciate you guys. This is my first Saab and I love it (but for some reason my TR6, still waiting to be restored, and my son, still waiting to drive the TR, hates it. Oh well, can't please everyone.
THANKS AGAIN!
