I like the laterla thinking but:
First thing: I can think of plenty of engines that might be worth transplanting into a Saab, but not any of the Triumph units you mention. They are nowhere near as well built as the Saabs and suffer some fundamental design faults (see below). Saab radically updated the design (so that they have virtually nothing in common). British Leyland/Triumph did sod all.
Second point: No the heads won't swap (thank god). The heads were always the major weak point on Triumphs because (a) the cylinder head bolts incline at 17 degrees and never managed to hold the head down properly (b) the alloy castings for the heads were frequently of low quality leading some to crack and some to become porous.
A transplant that is common in the UK with many cars (never heard of a Saab having been done though) is the Rover V8 unit which produces about the same HP as the Saab turbo unit, same torque but is lighter.
