Headlight knob

When turning on the headlights, the whole switch spins around. You have to press down on the outer ring to hold it still. Is this an easy fix? Do I need to take apart the dash, or can I pop off the knob cover? Is this type of stuff covered in the Bently manual? I haven't bought one yet.
