It's a lot easier but your amp needs power/juice. I have to Adcom GFA-5275 amps (75x2 RMS @4 ohms & is 1 ohm stable) & I have a seperate 4 guage power cable for each amp with a 1 farad CAP on the sub amp. Each amp has a 60w fuse at the battery & the sub amp blows a 30w fuse quite easily.
1 amp runs the component set & the other amp runs a single 12 sub.
Using the existing wiring will starve the amp of much needed 12v juice & will cause the amp to distort much easier. This will in turn cause you to seperate the voicecoils in your subs due to distorted power being pumped into the speakers. The amp will somply clip a LOT quicker especially when the bass notes hit :o(
Using the remote on/off is fine using existing wiring, however I prefer hooking it up directly to the radio.
8 gauge cable is more then enough for mose jap amps & 17 ft is what you need @ probably $1 to $1.50 a foot. Be sure to add a fuse as close to the battery as possible so ni fires are started :o)
