Thanks for a couple of really thoughtful...and thought-provoking...emails. I enjoyed them both immensely.
Joe, I understand where you're coming from...and that's WAY different from a guy who drives his huge, over-sized, gas-guzzling SUV because it makes him feel...well...bigger.
And Jeff...what a well-written piece. WHat you've written here would make a great op ed piece in some widely-read newspapers.
I personally have an 18-year-old nephew who drives a Jeep Grand Cherokee (all by himself) for his "image." He's a great kid, but his parents missed giving him some real important information and messages along the way.
What we have is an overindulgent, gluttonous, very spoiled country full of people who are never satisfied because they simply can never get enough. Bottom line? The fulfillment they seek will never be found outside themselves. It's a futile quest, and one which will continue to fuel our current rules of supply and demand in this country for as long as we raise spoiled, socially unconscious children. Time to start being responsible on a global scale.
So much for my rant.
And my question is...how are you folks getting your 9000's to be "fuel efficient"? Is 23-25mpg considered fuel efficient? (Just wondering, really.) And finally, does higher octane gas really increase fuel efficiency? I've heard and read opposing opinions on this.
Thanks for some inspiring "conversation"...
Julia
