Gotta say, the later generation does have it's sweetness. Admittedly, I got badly surprised by the gear ratio last week when I melded into the left lane and expected to easily match the speed of the a$$h0!e who was approaching at around 90 mph ... I misjudged the gear ratio thing and he bore down on me to the last second, then whipped around me and nearly took my left front fender off as he whipped in front of me. Egostistical bastard ... OK, maybe I need the Maptun upgrade ...!
Yeh, it's a different car. Ultimately, it will overpower the 91, as I proved time and again on the drive back from St Looie chasing my buddy in the 91, but the taller gears do give it more lag. As proof, I charged up my benchmark hill today, starting at 55 mph in fifth gear... I topped it at about 90. I'd top it at 100 in the 91 (which, by the way, was equal to the chipped Supra turbo's performance). So the higher gear ratio takes its toll. Sure is a wonderfully long legged beast on the road, though. And tighter. And sweeter, all around. I'll take it. But, as I said, I took the 91 for a couple of proof spins before I sold it, and I still admire it very, VERY much. A saab is a Saab, folks ... they're all good! Vay-rih, vay-rih good.
