First, thanks so much for your response.
I know what you mean by the notched nylon cord. That's not what I was trying to describe. Forgive me for my verbal ineptitude with all of these associated parts...ugh. Okay, I'll try to describe it better...
On the outside of the car sits a black piece with a nut on top from which the antenna mast rises and falls back into when operating properly. Okay.
My antenna is stuck in the upward (but not fully extended) position.
Now...
I loosen the nut OUTSIDE the car on top of the black piece from which the antenna extends. This in turn loosens the black piece from the outside of my car. Now I'm supposed to pull up to remove the mast, etc. HOWEVER...
There is a cylindrical piece which is notched (round and round, like on a screw...you know, the part of a screw which makes it turn!)...THAT part will not pull up out of the hole. It's as though there is something on the underside of the hole...like a ridge...holding it to the underside.
Robert's saying, nevermind about it, just remove the motor from the inside of the trunk and pull it out FROM BELOW.
Now what I'm asking today is based on what that guy I quoted said about sometimes that metal piece adhering making the removal of the motor an effort in futility, I don't want to take that motor apart, etc., if it's not goingn to work anyway.
See? :)
