You are having too much anxiety. You are not going to break anything that is not easily repaired. Forget about that thread. Your problem is that nylon cord is jammed up on the inside.
Have you tried pushing the antenna back down to see if it will manually retract into the motor. If it's stuck so that it won't go up or down, you might have to cut the mast to get the motor out of the car.
I just went out and looked at my 93CS. First, remove the retaining nut on the outside with a 17mm wrench or socket. Next, pull up the black plastic square thing. Remove both the nut and black plastic thing over the top of the antenna. The antenna is now secured to the car only by the nuts holding the motor in place. Remove those nuts and you can pull the whole assembly out of the car from below (after disconnecting the wires).
The thing you are describing may be part of the antenna mast. If you get the motor loose, but you can't get it out b/c the mast is too extended, then get the mast out of the way by either (1) pulling it up and out, (2) pushing it back in or (3) cutting it off close to the car body. Don't worry about hurting the mast, it's trash.
