oil pressure, especially at idle. After replacing the timing chain (87 9000t) and making sure everything is on right I started it up and after a short time of lifter noise the engine was running very smooth and quiet. I let it run for awhile to warm up and noticed a leaking coolant hose from the throttle body. Shut 'er down and went and got a new hose and replaced it.
Started 'er back up and everything seemed fine still, no leaks, so I moved the car a bit to clean up underneath while it warmed up to fan temp. and I noticed the lifters were noisy and the oil pressure light was on. After checking some posts on this I pulled the oil pump back off, cleaned things up again, packed it with vaseline and tried again. No luck. Oil pressure light is on at idle, but goes out as the revs increase. In fact it actually sounds pretty quiet around 1500 rpm and is not as noisy at higher rpms as at idle.
Could it be that even though the oil pump looks perfect and gave good pressure at first that it has faied also? I am using 15w-50 mobil 1 with a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer (which has not caused any issues previously). Any ideas would be appreciated.
