I think it depends on the nature of the repair, and the specific model of car. Ever done a blower motor or heater core on a 9000? I'll take a 900 any day. How about replaced a turbo or a/c compressor? Nod goes to the 900 again. Clutch? That's not even a fair comparison. But there are things on a 9000 which are easier to deal with - steering racks, suspension work. Interiors are a mixed bag - 9000s come apart and go back together more readily it seems, but for serious work I feel more comfortable taking a wrench to a 900. I think what it comes to is that each car is a compromise in its own way - both in driving and in wrenching.
