KB,
First of all, you want to look at 94 and up Aeros since they got the new engine family which is significantly better. It also has a GM gearbox that is stronger and easier to find used if you should need one later one. Also, these cars have a newer Trionic (5.5) and is easier to upgrade.
Model year differences:
- 94: New engine and transmission
- 95: Integrated alarm and remote central lock key pod, new steering wheel (clear front side repeaters on Euro models)
- 96: Integrated cup holder in rear armrest, late models received gearbox upgrade
- 97: New ergonomical door handles, large AC compressor, map compartment on passenger side (even for cars w/o passenger airbag), no turbo logo in grille, "2.3 Turbo" badge right rear, upgraded gearbox
Arguably, a car gets better and better for every year. For the Aero, 95 and up are more or less identical, so go for the one with best mileage, service history and fewest (and oldest...) owners.
