...perhaps he means APC? However, I do know how manual
boost controllers work - they bypass the the APC/BPC function.
The MAP sensor is the last line of defense in preventing overboost.
9000's tend to run a bit on the hot side, exhaust gas temperature-
wise. Bypassing the APC controls with a manual boost controller
is playing russian roulette with your engine. A tank of bad gas, a
warm day, or an extended full-throttle run, up-hill, with the APC
function disabled, could easily result in melted pistons - it does
happen!
