Used Parts Pricing - Rant

I needed a right side turn/cornering lamp assembly for my '88 9KT. I checked with the dealer and he wanted $120 plus tax. I checked eBay and found nothing. I then proceeded to check a number of used parts dealers. Out of 10, only 2 had the part in stock. One had one with a small chip and he wanted $97.20 plus shipping. The other wanted $60 plus shipping for one in supposedly good shape. I almost ordered that one but decided to give a couple of new parts discounters a shot. eEuroparts.com had one for $79.50, brand new factory part, in stock, with bulbs, FREE same day shipping.
I called the guy who wanted $60 PLUS shipping and asked why I should buy a used part when I can get a brand new one for slightly more (hoping to get him to cut his price). He just gave me the standard line, "50% off dealer list price". Who pays list price for anything these days? I won't even bother calling back the $97.20 guys since they must be smoking some strange stuff over there.
Anyway, I just think the typical 50% off list rule for a used part of questionable quality is way out of line. Maybe there's more overhead running a junkyard than I realize, so I may be way off base. However, before you buy a used part, shop around. You may find there is not that big a difference in price for a new part.
