Pete,
When mine bit the dust it happened in steps. The ultimate demise was preceded by several occasions when the car would just stall out, jump and buck and then restart and run fine for months. Then the beast died on the interstate- just quit. Had it towed back to town, and after sitting for 3 hours- damn thing started up and we drove it for 150 miles. Died the next day on the way to the Saab dealer. Wouldn't restart.
Bought a new DI from Jim M. at Sobstory and it has run great ever since.
If you have over 100K on the clock- think about replacing it. Keep the plugs gapped correctly- leading cause of early failure! Bottom line is that most often they will not fail at a convenient time or location- it just ruins your day!
