My timing/serpentine belt broke; my radiator cracked.

I'm not sure what belt that it's called; that one on the passenger side of my '92 9000S 2.3 that controls pretty much everything. Well, that one snapped. I didn't know what happened but I suddenly lost my powersteering. I hadn't noticed the temp guage and kept drive casually, until... steam came flying out from under the hood. Suck. As soon as I saw the gauge and steam, I pulled over immediately and shut off the engine. I think that saved my engine? I ended up having to drive it about 25 blocks doing the drive/stop/shut-off/drive/stop/shut-off method to try to keep the temp down.
So a local garage tells me it's going to cost $568.00 to put in a new radiator and a belt, labor etc. What do you think? Fair?
Do you think my engine is ok? I did have to push it just a little, where the needle was barely into the red on the temp gauge for about 4-5 blocks intermittantly. But it seemed to start up each time fine until my battery died in their garage. What timing.
Thanks for any insight and/or advice!
My question is
