I have problem with the brakes on my car. It all started when I was braking slowly while approaching a junction and I felt and heard a loud scraping noise from the brakes. I let go of the pedal and pressed it again, and all was fine. I thought I might have a stone or some grit stuck between the pads.

Since then, the ANTI LOCK light has started to come on intermitently and the brake pedal still does the same occaisionally.

Because the brake pedal has done the same several time now, I can descibe it in more detail. The pedal drops slightly from under your foot with an accompanying scraping sound, then you hear a click as the pedal comes back up with the scraping sound still present. The whole thing lasts about 2-3 seconds in total. During which the brake performance is deteriated and you have to press harder to stop and afterwards the pedal feels much stiffer.

I do have warped front discs (rotors) and I am replacing them next week. I don't know if this is causing any problems?

Any ideas?
