Car pulls to the right....sometimes Posted by Gregg [Email] (#677) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gregg) on Fri, 5 Sep 2003 14:28:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Sometimes when I nail the brakes, my 1990 9000T pulls violently to the right. It's a serious nose dive to the right. The backend will rise and move left. Sometimes, under the same conditions, it stops as straight as an arrow. It seldom pulls to the right under normal, gentle stopping situations. When it's misbehaving, the pedal has a VERY firm feel to it. My car has ABS and I can lock up the right front wheel momentarily. My first thought was a sticking left front caliper. I have removed the left front caliper and cleaned and lubed (with copper never seize) the areas where the brake pads slide. I also pushed the piston in all the way prior to reinstalling the caliper. Any ideas? I have replaced both front axle assemblies. Yes, both had the ABS rings on them. It puzzles me that it only happens sometimes. Is there anything in the ABS system that could cause this? The ABS light is not on. It comes on momentarily on start-up and goes off which is normal, I believe.
