not enough to matter. Too high and the rear antenna will look some back and a lot of down in most cars. Just don't mount it in a shadow of a metal body part. The 9000 has a very open back window so that helps. The window defroster (it is a grounded grid) conductors will effect the signal more than the tint unless the tint is a metallic (not heavy metal rock guys) component in it. I have mine mounted over the sun sensor by about 2-3 inches. Radar splatter will shine like a spotlight beam > all over the car and the ones next to you. Laser is another matter. If it warns of laser usually it is the LED stops on the SUV in front of me.
I always take it down to lessen the solar oven on it as I place the sun panels up there to shade the dash.
I like the remote indication unit all the time as it is handy to touch the reset button just above the radio. I feel the V1 is the most sensitive RF detector with the best set of filters I have owned. But please consider I don't have all the great new ones laid out on the dash to compare newbies. My last was a Passport 5000 (kinda goes with the 9000) which had a nice feature of a quasi spetrum spread display vs strength of sig.
I like the V1 for its sensitivity, selectivity, and remote unit/dark mode option. Plus the upgrade might be good down the line. 2 yrs on the V1 now.
Navy radar repair and hold a old General Class FCC Radiotelephone ticket. Just think of radar spread as a spotlight and laser as a red dot on your chest in a movie shot. Anyone for mounting a cooking magnetron with a one shot pulsed power supply behind the grill to lets say deafen the rcvr of the speed measurement device?? HeeHee.
