Your engine keeps running? That's even worse than mine. For some reason I can't imagine a Honda with this kind of problem, but then I haven't owned one in years.
One thing about the rear lights. There are several duplicates for the taillights, and if one is out, it won't be clearly visible from the rear but it will show up on the pictogram. The bad one on mine is on the outside of the passenger side. Very easy to check as the whole module comes out and you can just look at it.
My feeling is that these cars are so complicated, electronically, that the slightest hint of a short or whatever can send them into coniption fits, like a computer. That's why I'm going to try replacing the headlight (etc.) lenses and cleaning them out, looking for corrosion and dirt at the contact points while I'm in there. It has to be done anyway, so why not start there?
