The 8978355 ECU is not compatible with my year. The connector is shorter on mine. So no swap. And i have a paper weight ECU.
Ok, next
I started the car, let it run for 10 sec. stepped in the gas, and hesitation, no other problems noted. The car would rev up with light or faster throttle ok. I turned it off, checked the AMM to see where is was set and 330 was it. Started it again let it run for a while playing with the throttle and it got to the point real fast that any throttle would make it bog and backfire thur the exhaust and sometimes thur the intake if the throttle was opened more than 1/8. If i let off the throttle it would die.
So i pulled the vac line off the end of the manifold with the bov. started it again. Extended crank time 3 sec. no throttle response, w/backfire exh. runs rough at idle and w/throttle.
Stopped adjusted amm to .400k installed vac line. started car. Extended crank 3 sec. same as above. Removed vac line, same as above.
Stopped, adjusted to .500 crank time about in half. throttle better but still backfire if opened fast. removed vac line idle better, throttle response alot better, close the throttle and it DIDN'T die, will drop to 7-800 now, idles at 950 w/short surges. Stopped car. waited 30sec. started in about 1 sec with the vac line off still.
I also checked the temp sensor on the back of the head by the injectors. the connector had some oil in it, so i cleaned both and chk'd the sensor 3.3k ohms cold before i started the car.
No progress really, the vac line seemed to conteract the amm adjustment. I should probably write the results down from a 200 thur 700 adjustment range to give a better view. If that would help.
I did feel the exhaust right after startup and there was soot blowing on my hand, but it was running good at start. So thats about it.
