'87 9000 ingnition/key cylinder housing removal Posted by peter [Email] (#2804) [Profile/Gallery] (more from peter) on Fri, 26 Aug 2005 13:09:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Any body out there have experience removing a locked up key cylinder, and/or the housing
on this vintage 9000? The steering wheel and the starting cylinder are both locked.
I know you can remove the cylinder easily enough to replace it if you can get it
to rotate (similar to the 900)....but I'm wondering if there's a way to just remove
the housing intact to bring to locksmith. Otherwise looks like I'm down to drilling out the old cylinder and ordering a new one with key.
Could try ordering a new key from the VIN, but they may or may not work to free it up,
and is a pricey proposition for something that may not work, and seems the cylinder
is just as worn as the key.
any help appreciated.
