I put one hook into the trans lifting eye and wrapped the other end around the 4x4 I was using for support. The lifting eye seemed to orient the trans at a slight angle that aided re-fitting. It was a little precarious undoing the lock on the tie down while hanging onto the trans, but do-able, plus I put padded materials under the trans in case I dropped it (keeping in mind I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of weight at the time).
