Zero. Zilch. Nada. These may not be "normal" results strictly speaking, but I did at one time replace a perfectly good CPS because of the no bounce (this was after I'd replaced the fuel pump insert but installed it with the protective shipping cap still in place -- wonder why the car wouldn't start?). I just want to stave off others' possibly doing the same thing.
But the tip about the fuel pump relay pulling down is a good clue for sure.
One other note is that the CPS connector is behind the alternator on these cars; the connection at the firewall is the entire engine wiring loom, so it may be difficult to get this tester to work without some digging.
I forget now, because I'm not looking at Jesse's original post, which year his car is. The position of the sensor was moved to the flywheel end from the crank pulley end starting in 94, and the sensor is also of a different type. Those definitely cannot be diagnosed with a bounce test.
Sorry if I come across as arguing with you, that's not the intent. Just relating my experiences, which surprised me when I first noticed the non-bouncing needle. Maybe it's due to small differences in the tach circuitry in our particular cars or something.
